Henrico woman among 6 ‘Heroes’ honored by Spanberger

Table of Contents

A Henrico woman is among six people honored recently by U.S. Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger for going above and beyond to help others during the COVID-19 pandemic. Tiffany Sherman, the owner of a quilting supplies and instruction shop, began using the tools at her disposal to help those in need shortly after the pandemic began. She organized a fundraiser to allow for the production of masks for frontline workers. The project also has helped keep store workers busy – and employed – from home. As the need grew, she also began offering the hand-made masks for sale through her online store, with proceeds going directly to make more masks for healthcare workers.

Sherman and her team have provided more than 1,000 masks for health workers to date.

Spanberger recognized her as part of the representative’s “VA-07 Heroes” program, which is designed to honor those who are helping others during the pandemic.

Information about previous honorees of the program is available online. Central Virginians can nominate a Hero by completing a form online. Nominations may include small businesses, non-profits, and anyone who lives, works, or volunteers in Virginia’s Seventh District, which includes western Henrico County.
