For the third time in less than a week, Henrico County has witnessed a new record high number of COVID-19 cases on a single day, recording 113 on Tuesday. The previous record of 95 was set Nov. 18 and tied two days later.

Perhaps more significantly, though, 12 county residents were reported hospitalized by the virus Tuesday; that’s the county's second-highest single-day total during the pandemic, tying the number hospitalized April 16 and two short of the record high reported April 17.

Henrico now is averaging five new daily hospitalizations during the past week, according to the Virginia Department of Health, and 88 new cases per day, a new record high.

The 133 new cases came from a total of nearly 1,300 testing encounters reported Tuesday in Henrico by the VDH. Henrico’s 7-day positivity percentage rose from 5.2% to 5.7% as of Nov. 21, the most recent date for which that data is available.
