Henrico supervisors authorize construction of Dorey Park baseball stadium

The Henrico Board of Supervisors Tuesday night authorized a $3.1-million contract with Kenbridge Construction Co., Inc. for the construction of a baseball stadium at Dorey Park to replace existing Field 5 at the complex. The new stadium will resemble RF&P Stadium in Glen Allen and will include 346 covered stadium bleacher seats, an enclosed press box, new baseline and outfield spectator viewing areas, sunken dugouts, new fencing and a new backstop, new LED sports field lighting and a full-color digital score and message display board.
Renovations to the existing restroom and concession stand to add two new family toilets also are part of the plan. Construction is expected to begin next month and be completed by next May.
Three other companies submitted bids for the project of between $3.8 million and $4.1 million.
