Taha Shaikh, a Maggie Walker Governor's School senior from Henrico County, recently achieved a High School Diploma in Social Music with The Piano Guild, a division of the American College of Musicians. Fewer than 50 students across the United States earned this diploma, which also gains him membership in the International College of Musicians.
Shaikh also studied for the Advanced Bach Plaque this year and was awarded this medal after playing a 15-piece program of advanced Bach pieces he had memorized. The judge was so impressed with his playing, said instructor Barbara Muldowney of Muldowney Studio, that she asked him to play more when his audition ended.
Shaikh will attend Virginia Tech.
