Henrico student taken into custody after bringing gun to Academy at Virginia Randolph

A 16-year-old male student at Henrico County's Academy at Virginia Randolph in Glen Allen was taken into custody Feb. 22 after Henrico Police found him with a gun at the school.

A school administrator alerted the school's resource officer at about 11:30 a.m. that the student might have a weapon, after an anonymous tip was submitted to school officials.

The administrator and officer responded to investigate the tip and found the gun on the person of the student.

The juvenile, whose identity is not being provided due to his age, was taken and admitted to the Henrico County Juvenile Detention Home on violations of:

• possession of a firearm on school property;

• possession of a concealed firearm;

• possession of a firearm by a juvenile.
