Henrico stays below 90 new COVID-19 cases for third straight day

Henrico County’s new daily number of COVID-19 cases has remained in the double-digits for a third straight day, as the county reported 81 new cases on Tuesday, according to the Virginia Department of Health. The county’s seven-day moving count continues to decline, down Monday to an average of 102 cases.

The last time Henrico reported three consecutive days with fewer than 90 new cases a day was Dec. 1-3.

On Tuesday, Henrico also reported three new virus-related hospitalizations and no new deaths related to the virus, according to VDH data.

As of Feb. 12, the positivity rate among PCR tests reached 8.5 percent, and the positivity rate among rapid tests reached seven percent, according to VDH data. Both of these rates to continue to decline, after spiking in early January. Data on testing encounters intentionally lags behind to include as much information as possible.

Nearly 55,000 Henricoans have received one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and more than 12,600 are now fully vaccinated, according to the VDH. People in the county are being vaccinated at a rate of 16,610 per 100,000, a rate higher rate than the City of Richmond and Chesterfield County, the county's neighbors.

About 1.4 million COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in the state of Virginia, according to the VDH, and 12.3 percent of Virginians have gotten at least one dose so far. The average amount of doses administered each day continues to fall since peaking in January, reaching 34,863 doses.
