Henrico, state, federal officials to host PFAS open house in Varina Aug. 23

Local, state and federal officials will host an open-house-style meeting Aug. 23 at the Varina Area Library to address community concerns about ethylene oxide (EtO) and per- and polyfluoralkyl substances (PFAS) in Eastern Henrico.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. and will include representatives of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, Virginia Department of Health, federal Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry and Henrico County. Officials will be available to discuss actions being taken, answer questions and receive comments and concerns about the possible health risks associated with EtO and PFAS.
