Thirty Virginia students, including two from Henrico County, were recently awarded approximately $82,500 in scholarships for the 2019-2020 school year as part of Comcast NBCUniversal's annual Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program.

The students were selected for their outstanding community service, academic performance and leadership skills. The award, funded by the Comcast NBCUniversal Foundation, is a one-time, $2,500 scholarship to be used toward undergraduate education-related expenses.

Kamryn Owen of Highland Springs H.S. and Clara Pettus of J.R. Tucker H.S. were among the seniors recognized at a special event held at the Virginia State Capitol on May 15.

“Congratulations to all of the Leaders and Achievers scholarship recipients,” said Atif Qarni, Virginia Secretary of Education. "I am proud of each of you and your academic accomplishments as well as your commitment to serving your community and peers."
