Henrico sees most single-day COVID-related hospitalizations since late November

New hospitalizations in Henrico related to COVID-19 Thursday rose to their highest single-day total since late November – 11 – according to the Virginia Department of Health.

The county has witnessed only four days with more new hospitalizations since the pandemic began; the most reported on one day was 14 on April 17. Twelve were reported Nov. 24.

The VDH also reported three more virus-related deaths in the county, bringing the total during the past three days to 10.

New COVID cases in Henrico fell to 175 Thursday (down from 198 Wednesday), pushing the county over 18,000 total confirmed cases since the pandemic began. Its seven-day daily average of new cases increased to 190.

Henrico’s seven-day positivity percentages among PCR and rapid testing encounters both fell slightly as of Jan. 24, to 11% and 9.3%, respectively.
