The school system is seeking substitute teachers of all experience levels, as well as potential custodians, bus drivers, school nutrition staff, nurses, instructional aides, and others.

The pay rate for daily substitute teachers will increase in the coming fiscal year, which begins July 1, to $135.26 per day Monday through Thursday and $160.26 on Fridays. Long-term or “board” substitutes commit to filling one teaching position for at least 21 consecutive days, often to fill in for a teacher on extended leave, will see their pay increase July 1 to $254.72 per day, and they are eligible for health care benefits for themselves and their children. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree.

Permanent substitutes are assigned at a particular school and substitute wherever needed in that building. Effective July 1, pay for permanent substitutes will increase to $21.88 per hour. Permanent substitutes are eligible for health care benefits for themselves and their children, and the positions are posted individually by school.
