Henrico Schools to host community safety forum Wednesday

Table of Contents

Henrico Schools’ March 28 community safety forum will offer citizens the chance to find out about the school division’s current safety efforts – and to suggest ideas for making them stronger.

The forum, scheduled from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hungary Creek Middle School, 4909 Francistown Road in Glen Allen, will start with an explanation of the forum agenda, followed by a brief safety video and remarks from representatives of Henrico Police, Henrico Fire and the school division. Shannon Taylor, Henrico County commonwealth’s attorney, will also speak.

Attendees will then be divided into small groups, led by a moderator, to present their thoughts and ideas about school safety. Each group will have a chance to discuss a range of topics, including building security; relationships; students’ social and emotional support; safety protocols and procedures; and the division’s partnerships with safety-oriented organizations.

Attendees’ feedback will compiled and posted on the school division website, henricoschools.us.

The safety forum will be open to the public and will be attended by Henrico School Board members, Henrico Schools administrators and representatives of Henrico Schools’ Department of Safety and Emergency Management.

The public is invited to attend.
