The vacancies are available at all levels, from pre-kindergarten through high school. The job fair will take place from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the HCPS Parham Road offices, 1910 East Parham Road.
To be eligible to apply for an instructional assistant position, applicants must be at least 18 years old and hold a high school diploma or equivalent. They also should have at least 42 semester hours from an accredited college or university, though applicants without that many hours may still be eligible to apply by completing a ParaPro Assessment within 60 days of hire. (Once the division receives the applicant's passing scores, he or she will be reimbursed for the cost of the assessment.)
In addition, IA applicants must be certified with an autism understanding certificate or complete one such certificate within 60 days of hire. HCPS will provide certification at no cost to applicants who are hired. Part-time instructional assistants work 29 or fewer hours per week and earn $17.31 per hour, while full-time instructional assistants work 10 months per year and earn a minimum of $26,879 per year.
Long-term substitute teachers commit to filling a teaching position for at least 21 consecutive days, usually to fill in for a teacher on extended leave. These salaries are $254.72 per day, and eligible candidates must have a bachelor's degree. Open positions are available at all levels of education.
