Henrico Schools to host 3 diversity meetings this month

Henrico Schools’ Department of Equity and Diversity will host three meetings this month to seek input about how to increase equity and diversity within the school division:

• July 16 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., at the Henrico County Public Schools Central Office (Community Room), 3820 Nine Mile Road – Attendees can help create a manual about monthly diversity recognition to give school leaders guidance on the best ways to recognize marginalized groups. The manual will include six nationally recognized heritage months: Black History Month, Hispanic-Latino History Month, Women's History Month, Asian History Month and National American Indian History Month.

• July 18 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the enrico County Public Schools Central Office (Multipurpose Room), 3820 Nine Mile Road – Attendees (students and adults) can provide input about multicultural books being considered for incorporation into middle and high school courses for 2018-19

• July 18 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., Henrico County Public Schools Central Office (Multipurpose Room), 3820 Nine Mile Road – Attendees can provide input about the creation of a religious sensitivity support document aimed at helping inform school leaders.
