Henrico Schools’ to host 10 'Family Learning Series' workshops this fall

Henrico County Public Schools officials will host 10 workshops this fall as part of their Family Learning Series.

The fall edition of the program will begin Sept. 18 with a workshop entitled "Middle School and Beyond" and will conclude Oct. 23 with one entitled " Assistive Technology and Students with Disabilities."

The series is free and is presented by Henrico Schools’ Department of Family and Community Engagement. Workshops will be held at public libraries and school facilities throughout the county.

The complete list of workshops is as follows:

• Middle School and Beyond (Sept. 18, 6-7:30 p.m.)
• Are You Smarter than Your Child’s Smart Phone? Social Media Tips, Tricks and Secrets (Sept. 25, 6-7:30 p.m.)
• Anxiety and Stress in Elementary Students: Building “Worry Warriors” (Sept. 26, noon–1:30 p.m)
• Homework and Study Strategies (Oct. 2, 6–7:30 p.m.)
• Building a Better Budget (Oct. 3, noon-1:30 p.m.)
• Drug Awareness for Parents and Guardians: A Henrico County Adolescent Substance Abuse Needs-Assessment (Oct. 9, 6–7:30 p.m.)
• Drug Awareness for Parents and Guardians: A Henrico County Adolescent Substance Abuse Needs-Assessment (Oct. 10, noon–1:30 p.m.)
• Raising a Confident Child: What’s Your Parenting Style? (Oct. 16, 6–7:30 p.m.)
• School Accreditation and SOL Testing: What is it and why? (Oct. 17, noon–1:30 p.m.)
• Assistive Technology and Students with Disabilities (Oct. 23, 6–7:30 p.m.).
