Henrico Schools seeking bus drivers, teachers, nutrition workers

Henrico County Public Schools officials are seeking teachers, bus drivers and nutrition workers for the coming school year. The school system will host a job fair Aug. 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at HCPS Central Office in the Multipurpose Room, 3820 Nine Mile Road, to speak with interested candidates.

Substitute bus drivers will begin at $13.51 per hour, while full-time drivers start at $14.18 per hour. Experienced drivers can earn up to $14.86 per hour. The school system also is seeking school nutrition workers, plumbers, carpenters and technicians specializing in heating and air conditioning.

Openings still exist for teachers in some hard-to-staff areas, including: Spanish, French, special education, math, physics, technical education and family and consumer science. If you have an expired Virginia teaching license, are a retired teacher in one of these subjects, or hold at least an undergraduate degree in one of these areas, school system officials would like to speak with you.

Representatives from the HCPS Human Resources Department, as well as departmental representatives, will attend the job fair.

The school system will pay qualified bus driver candidates as they train.

Candidates for full-time and substitute bus drivers must: be at least 21 years old; have a valid Virginia driver’s license; obtain a CDL Class B instructional permit or hold a CDL Class B license with endorsements in P (Transporting Passengers)/S (School Bus) and airbrakes; pass a physical and drug test and have no felony convictions.
