Henrico Schools seeking bus drivers, nutrition workers, teachers

Henrico County Public Schools will hold a job fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 27 to visit with potential school bus drivers, nutrition workers and teachers.

School division bus drivers now earn more – $14.18 per hour to start for full-time drivers and as much as $14.86 per hour for experienced drivers. Substitute drivers now earn $13.51 per hour. The school system is seeking teachers in critical areas, such as middle and high school math, Spanish and science.

Representatives from the HCPS Human Resources Department, as well as departmental representatives, will attend the event at the Workforce Resource Center at 121 Cedar Fork Road in Eastern Henrico.

The school system will pay qualified bus driver candidates while they train.

Applicants without computer access or who are having trouble with the online application may contact the HCPS Human Resources Department or visit the department office at 3820 Nine Mile Road in Henrico to use computers and receive help if needed.

Candidates for full-time and substitute bus drivers must: be at least 21 years old; have a valid Virginia driver’s license; obtain a CDL Class B instructional permit or hold a CDL Class B license with endorsements in P (Transporting Passengers)/S (School Bus) and airbrakes; pass a physical and drug test and have no felony convictions.
