Henrico Schools releases school reopening survey

Henrico Schools officials Wednesday launched a survey to learn more about what families think about reopening plans for the 2020-21 school year this fall.

"The leadership of HCPS believes that the school division must take into account state guidance, the advice of health experts, and the wishes of the community at large prior to making any final determinations for the fall," Superintendent Amy Cashwell wrote in an email announcing the survey.

School system officials intend to use the feedback they receive from this survey, which includes more than 70 brief questions and closes July 5, to help streamline their plans for the coming school year, then gather additional input before asking families later this summer to choose a path for their students.

Currently, four plans exist – three hybrid plans (which involve students learning two days a week in school in and three days a week at home) and a fully virtual plan. The latter will be an option for all families regardless of what hybrid plan the School Board ultimately selects, Cashwell has said.
