The window is now open for the Henrico County Public Schools’ 2024 School Survey, which invites respondents to share perspectives and experiences to help the school system make decisions for the future. Parents and guardians should receive an email Feb. 5 with a link to this year’s edition of the survey, which will take about 15-20 minutes and can be completed through March 1. (For details, click here.)

Survey results help HCPS determine what new programs are necessary, how to improve current ones, and how to allocate funds and personnel. The results will help the division measure its progress in a range of areas related to the four cornerstones outlined in HCPS’ current strategic plan, “Destination 2025: The Plan for HCPS.” The cornerstones are safety and wellness; academic growth; equity and opportunity; and relationships.

Respondents also will have a chance to score some incentives for participating. The school in each Henrico County magisterial district with the highest family survey response rate will win professional development funds for its teachers, courtesy of the Henrico Education Foundation, and at least one family from each of the five magisterial districts will be randomly selected for a prize bag from HCPS’ Department of Family and Community Engagement.

HCPS is conducting the survey with help from the Metropolitan Educational Research Consortium at VCU’s School of Education. Answers are anonymous and confidential, and the consortium will only report information to HCPS in summary form.

In addition to the email, a parent and guardian survey link will be available on the HCPS website through March 1. Those needing a paper copy of the parent and guardian survey should contact their child’s school. The survey is available in English, Spanish, Arabic, Dari, Portuguese and Pashto.
