All Henrico public schools will be closed Friday, Sept. 14, school system officials announced this afternoon. All afterschool activities on Thursday, Sept. 13 also are cancelled.
The moves come in anticipation of heavy rain and other effects that are likely from Hurricane Florence, which is expected to make landfill Thursday in North Carolina.
Schools also will be closed Sept. 15 and 16 to all community activities and events.
Many high school football games have been moved to Wednesday to avoid the storm.
Most other community events scheduled Friday or this weekend have been rescheduled, including Glen Allen Day, which was scheduled for Saturday but now will take place Oct. 20.
