Henrico school system names new administrative leaders

During the Henrico School Board’s virtual work session Thursday, Superintendent Amy Cashwell officially announced a number of personnel appointments. Some, including 10 new principal appointments, already were known.

• Shady Grove Elementary School Principal Stacey Austin and Fair Oaks Elementary School Principal Candace Wilkerson will become the school system’s directors of elementary school education. Austin spent 12 years as a teacher and 14 years as an elementary school principal, as well as three years as a director of curriculum and instruction, while Wilkerson taught for 16 years at the elementary school level and nine as an elementary school principal.

• Wilder Middle School Principal Deia Champ will become the director of middle school education. She previously served as the principal of Dumbarton, among other leadership jobs during her career.

• Varina High School Principal Ann Marie Seely will become the director of school quality. Prior to her role at Varina, Seely was associate principal at Pocahontas Middle School.

• Loudoun County Public Schools’ Assistant Director of Transportation Jim Ellis will become Henrico’s director of transportation.

• Dale King, associate principal at Hungary Creek Middle School, was appointed principal of the Hermitage ACE Center. He previously served as associate principal at Quioccasin Middle School, assistant principal at Wilder Middle and CTE teacher at Rolfe Middle School.

The appointees will begin their new roles July 1, when the school system's new fiscal year begins.
