Editor's note: An earlier version of this article stated that the school board's meeting would address the current water crisis in the county. Henrico Schools representative Eileen Cox clarified that the school board will still keep its original agenda for the meeting and has only changed the meeting's location.

The Henrico School Board will convene for their work session 3 p.m. today at Henrico Schools’ Parham Road Offices at 1910 E Parham Road instead of their usual Eastern Henrico location.

The meeting was initially supposed to take place at New Bridge Learning Center. The center has been affected by regional water shortages impacting much of Northern and Eastern Henrico, according to HCPS.

The special meeting will be open to the public, but there will not be an opportunity for public comment.

All Henrico schools have been closed since this past Monday due to weather conditions and are still closed Thursday due to the water issues. Since the HCPS calendar has built-in instructional time to offset school closures, these days will not need to be made up later in the semester.

County officials issued a boil advisory warning Wednesday for all parts of the county as a precautionary measure. Many Henrico schools have either no water or limited water and many HCPS employees residing in Eastern or Northern Henrico have been without water for several days.

Families impacted by water services outages can now take showers at Brookland Middle School, J.R. Tucker High School, and Douglas L. Wilder Middle School at the schools’ bathroom facilities from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. starting Thursday, although families should bring their own towels, soap, shampoo, and other toiletries. Residents can also access showers at the Henrico Sports & Events Center for 24 hours a day.

Residents can also get free bottled water at Brookland Middle, Tucker High, and Wilder Middle from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, though supplies may temporarily be exhausted at those locations depending upon demand.
