Ten Henrico schools will have new principals beginning July 1.

The Henrico School Board this afternoon approved their appointments during its virtual work session.

The group includes two new hires and six current school system employees who are being promoted to principal positions for the first time. Two existing principals will continue their roles at different schools.

One of the new hires – Darin Thompson, the principal of Caroline Middle School in Caroline County – will become the new principal of Varina High School.

The other, Nicole Boone, will leave the principalship of Chesterfield’s Chalkley Elementary for that of Laburnum Elementary, where she formerly was a teacher.

Nicole Henderson will move from Laburnum Elementary School to Longan Elementary, while Sarah Slaughter will move from Short Pump Elementary to Pinchbeck Elementary.

The other six new principals all earned promotions from their current roles as associate principals in Henrico. They are:
• Lauren Bischoff (promoted to remain at Baker Elementary);
• Ellen Guidry (promoted to remain at Shady Grove Elementary);
• Paige Smith (promoted to remain at Short Pump Elementary);
• Arainau Neal (moving to Trevvett Elementary from Johnson Elementary);
• Shaundell Edwards-Hamlin (moving to Fair Oaks Elementary from Dumbarton Elementary);
• Carey Fellows (moving to Mehfoud Elementary from Ratcliffe Elementary).
