The Rotary Club of West Richmond honored a longtime Henrico resident Aug. 9 for his years of Rotary service.

During its weekly meeting, the club recognized Ken Perry, chairman of VAMAC, Inc. for his dedication and community service.

Perry is the longest-serving member of the club in its 60-plus year history. He is also a past president of the group, and its members Wednesday established “The Kenneth M. Perry New Member of the Year Award” in his honor. It will be given annually.

In addition, Henrico County Manager John Vithoulkas, Tuckahoe District Supervisor Pat O’Bannon and State Senator Siobhan Dunnavant attended the meeting to present Perry with additional citations and commendations.

Perry, well-known philanthropist and community leader, was joined by members of his family and several employees of VAMAC, Inc., which was founded as the Virginia Machinery and Well Company, Inc., in 1915.

“We are all very proud to be a part of Rotary International, and this club...Ken is a big part of that,” said West Richmond Rotary President Hazle Konerding.

“It’s an honor to be able to celebrate a person of such rare character,” said Ted Linhart, a past president of the group.
