A fox that attempted to catch a kitten in Highland Springs has tested positive for rabies, marking the third confirmed case of rabies reported in Henrico County this year.

The incident happened on A.P. Hill Avenue Aug. 5, according to Henrico Police. Someone was able to trap the fox in a pet carrier. Actual physical contact between the fox and the kitten could not be confirmed, but there were no additional exposures involving animals or humans, according to police.
