Henrico reports only 33 new COVID-19 cases Thursday

Henrico County reported just 33 new COVID-19 cases March 11, the fourth day of the past five on which new case counts were 40 or below. The county’s seven-day average of new daily cases is now 49.

There were, however, 13 new hospitalizations reported in the county and two new deaths related to the virus, according to the Virginia Department of Health. A total of 551 deaths in Henrico now are attributed to the virus.

Testing continues to drop in Henrico, down to an average of 1,011 PCR tests and 399 rapid tests per day, but the positivity percentage among PCR tests also has dropped steadily and is now down to just 5.2% as of Mar. 7. The same metric for rapid tests has increased just slightly, to 6.7% as of the same date.

Nearly 33,000 people in Henrico – or about 10% of the county’s population – are now fully vaccinated, according to the VDH, while another 62,679 have received at least one dose.

Statewide, 19% of the population has received at least one dose, while in Henrico that figure is about 28%.
