Henrico County had just 10 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 Wednesday, according to data released Thursday by the Virginia Department of Health. It’s the fewest number of new cases reported in Henrico on a single day since Aug. 2 and just the 11th time in the county since April 1 that 10 or fewer new cases were reported.

(That does not include data reported by the VDH Monday, which showed that Henrico had “-1” new cases of COVID; a health department official told the Citizen that the local health district was still attempting to determine exactly what prompted that data to appear but that “the best of our current understanding is that there was a database issue such that our numbers got lumped together.”)

On Thursday, VDH also reported one new death in Henrico attributable to the virus (a person in his or her 60s), as well as one new hospitalization related to the virus.

The death reported Thursday and the four in Henrico reported yesterday most likely occurred several weeks ago but may have occurred as long as several months ago, Richmond and Henrico Health District spokesman Fernando Rodriguez told the Citizen. VDH has indicated that is is working through a backlog of death information.

Henrico's 7-day positivity percentage remains stable, increasing only slightly from 3.4% to 3.5% as of Sept. 27.
