On Friday, Henrico County reported just 37 new cases of COVID-19 – its lowest total in one day since Nov. 15 – according to the Virginia Department of Health. The seven-day moving average of new daily cases continues to fall, dropping from 100 Thursday to 90 Friday. Henrico’s decreasing totals reflect a national trend.

There were seven new hospitalizations in Henrico related to the virus on Friday and one new virus-related death – the county’s first in one week – according to VDH data.

As Henrico's average number of cases continues to drop, the positivity rate among testing encounters falls as well, with both PCR tests and rapid tests reaching their lowest rates this year, according to VDH data. As of Feb. 15, the positivity rate among PCR tests fell to 8.8 percent and the rate among antigen (or rapid) tests fell to 7.7 percent.

More than 1.5 million Virginians (or about 13% of the state’s population) have received one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to the VDH. In Henrico County, nearly 58,700 doses have been administered, and more than 15,000 Henricoans have received both doses necessary for full inoculation.
