Henrico reports 82 new COVID cases, 1 new hospitalization

Henrico reported 82 new COVID-19 cases Thursday, up from 79 Wednesday, and is now averaging 66 new cases a day during the past seven days, according to Virginia Department of Health data.

The VDH also reported one new virus-related hospitalization in Henrico Thursday.

Henrico now has experienced five days with more than 78 cases in a 10-day period – the first time that’s happened in the county since March 26-April 3.

Henrico’s seven-day positivity percentage among PCR testing encounters as of Aug. 9, the most recent day reported, was 6.7% and its rapid testing encounter percentage was 8%. Both were slightly lower than the state averages (7.6% and 8.6% respectively).

A total of 202 doses of COVID-19 vaccine were administered to Henrico residents Aug. 11, according to the VDH. To date, 201,556 Henricoans have received at least one dose of vaccine and 181,331 (or about 54.8% of the county’s total population) are fully vaccinated, according to the VDH.
