Henrico reports 10th straight day with more than 100 new COVID-19 cases

Henrico recorded its tenth consecutive day with more than 100 new COVID-19 cases Thursday, reporting 133 cases. The county is now averaging 120 new daily cases in the past seven days, according to Virginia Department of Health data.

Twenty hospitalizations related to the virus have been reported in the county during the past three days (13 Tuesday, six Wednesday and one Thursday), though it’s unclear if all of those are related to new cases or if some represent data corrections from previous cases.

Two new virus-related deaths also have been reported in Henrico during the past three days.

Among those tested for COVID in Henrico with PCR tests during the seven-day period ending Aug. 29, 10.6% were positive (slightly higher than the state average of 10.4%). Rapid testing encounters in the county during the same period of time were positive 11.3% of the time, or 3% higher than the state average, according to the data.
