The Virginia Department of Health Thursday reported a total of 58 new cases of COVID-19 in Henrico County Nov. 5 – the fifth day of 50 or more new cases in the county since Oct. 25. The total Friday was just shy of that number (49).

It’s the most days with 50 or more new cases in the county in that short a window of time since July 24-Aug. 1, the second of two peaks for the virus in Henrico.

The county's 7-day average of new daily cases rose slightly above 46 as of Friday. Its 7-day positivity percentage, which intentionally trails by several days, increased by nearly half a percentage point to 5.3% as of Nov. 2.

Three new COVID-related hospitalizations also were reported in Henrico Thursday and one more Friday; the county’s 7-day average of new daily hospitalizations is again 3, after having risen to 4 Thursday – the highest it has been since the first week of June.

A total of 21 county residents have been hospitalized by COVID so far this month – already nearly half the number of Henricoans hospitalized by the virus during all of October (46).
