Henrico records fifth day this year with more than 200 new COVID cases

Henrico recorded another day with more than 200 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 Friday, according to the Virginia Department of Health. The VDH reported a total of 226 new cases in the county, along with one new death and four new hospitalizations related to the virus.

During the most recent seven days, Henrico has experienced an average of 201 new daily cases.

The new cases bring the county within 17 of 14,000 total confirmed cases since the pandemic began.

Henrico is averaging slightly more than 1,900 PCR and rapid testing encounters daily, as of Jan. 4. The PCR positivity percentage during the seven-day period that ended Jan. 4 was 15%, down slightly from 15.2% the previous day.

The county’s rapid test positivity percentage was up to 17.3% as of the same day. It was 14.2% just three days earlier.
