Henrico Police seeking information about 3 fatal crashes since Oct. 16

Three fatal crashes in Henrico County since Oct. 16 have Henrico Police officials urging caution on the roads and seeking tips from the public to assist with their investigations.

Overall this year, the county has witnessed 31 traffic fatalities stemming from 28 incidents.

The first of the three recent crashes occurred Oct. 16 on Nuckols Road near the intersection of Hickory Park Drive, when an officer happened upon the site of a fatal hit-and-run in which 27-year-old DeShawn S. Johnson was struck in the road. He later died at a hospital.

Police are still looking for information about that crash and the driver who apparently struck Johnson and then left the scene.

The second incident occurred just after 9 p.m. oct. 25 in the 8400 block of Sanford Drive, when a male was struck by a truck backing up. The adult male victim – 60-year-old Norman Hays, Jr., of Harrisonburg, was transported to a hospital, where he died.

The third incident occurred just before 8 a.m. Oct. 26 and involved a Ford Explorer and motorcycle that crashed at Laburnum Avenue and Montclair Road. The motorcyclist, 32-year-old David Peacock of Henrico, was transported to a local hospital, where he died. The crash remains under investigation.
