Katoya Brown

Henrico Police officials are asking the public to report any previous interactions they may have had with two suspects in a Short Pump murder.

Deontae Marquel Winston, 33, and Katoya Brown, 35, both of Crewe, Virginia, are facing charges in connection to the deadly shooting that occurred Sept. 5 in the parking lot of Whole Foods at West Broad Village, in the 111000 block of West Broad Street.

A preliminary investigation shows that the suspects were outside of a business in the parking lot when an argument ensued with the victim, resulting in him being shot.

During the past several months, detectives believe the two suspects may have been sighted in parking lots of other popular shopping areas spanning across the metro-region. Some witnesses have reported harassing behavior.

Anyone who may have seen Winston and Brown exhibiting such behavior is asked to call Henrico Police Det. Lozak at (804) 501-5588 or to submit tips through Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000 or by visiting P3tips.com; both methods are anonymous.

Winston and Brown both face second-degree murder and other charges in the death of 30-year-old Julian Leshon McClenny, of Drewryville, Virginia.
