Henrico Police are seeking information about the driver who struck and injured a cyclist June 19 just before 4 p.m. in the West End.

The adult male cyclist was struck at the intersection of Quarter Mill Road and Copper Creek Lane while pedaling westbound on Quarter Mill Road. The driver of a vehicle traveling eastbound turned north onto Copper Creek Lane in front of him, he told first-responding officers. That caused the cyclist to crash into the vehicle’s rear, ejecting him from the bicycle and into the intersection.

The driver of what was described as a possible 2010 maroon sedan with a dirty appearance fled the scene on Copper Creek Lane toward Mayland Drive. The suspect vehicle is missing a piece of the right rear brake light, according to police.

The victim was transported to the hospital with several non-life-threatening injuries.

Anyone with information about the incident, or who may have witnessed the crash, is urged to contact Henrico Police Det. Hazelgrove at (804) 501-5000. Those with information may call Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000 or submit it online at P3Tips.com. Both Crime Stoppers methods are anonymous.
