Henrico Police are searching for two people who are accused of stealing heavy equipment from a Henrico County Home Depot by asking others to rent it for them.

Police believe that in August, the suspects twice approached people at the Home Depot in the 6500 block of West Broad Street and asked them to rent a piece of machinery, often a boom lift, for them. They would then provide a story as to why they couldn't rent it in their own names.

In both cases, the suspects never returned the equipment. Detectives later found the equipment in a different county or state.

According to police, the suspects are believed to be part of a fraud/theft ring that includes at least three people, possibly more. Detectives have identified two of the suspects as Ricardo Antonio "Bella" Moreno, Jr., 24, of Hopewell, and Jatwan Lamont Redmond, 35, of Waverly.

Moreno and Redmond have active warrants for their arrests. Anyone with information about their locations should call Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000 or online at p3tips.com (both anonymous methods). Tips that lead to an arrest in auto-related cases may also be eligible for a cash reward of up to $25,000 through the Virginia State Police HEAT program.

During their investigation, Henrico detectives learned of similar incidents at businesses in Ashland and, on Oct. 18, Hanover County. Police are collaborating with investigators in those areas to identify additional suspects.

Henrico Police are seeking this man in connection with several thefts.

In last week's incident, another suspect connected to the ring allegedly attempted to rent equipment at a Hanover County Home Depot. The rental didn't go through, but surveillance footage captured the suspect (pictured above). He is described as a Black man with a black goatee and headwrap. He wore a neon green long-sleeved shirt and ripped jeans.

Detectives suspect this person is connected to one of the August thefts in Henrico.

Anyone with information about this man or the whereabouts of Moreno and Redmond should call Crime Stoppers or Henrico Police Det. M. Valentine at (804) 501-5248.
