Henrico Police report first confirmed rabies case of 2025

Henrico Police have reported the first confirmed case of rabies in 2025. A raccoon that may have come into contact with two dogs March 23 in the 8500 block of Camp Hill Road in the Varina District later tested positive for rabies, police reported.
The dogs will be quarantined on the owner’s property. No additional animal or human exposures were reported.
The Henrico Police Animal Protection Unit reminds residents to keep their pets’ rabies vaccinations current to ensure the safety of their pets and the community.
Henrico County offers rabies vaccination clinics throughout the year; the next rabies clinic is scheduled for Saturday, May 17, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Henrico County Western Government Center, 4301 East Parham Road. Vaccinationsare $20, cash only.
