Retired Henrico Police Sgt. Kenny Ragland, a long-time leader of the Henrico Police Athletic League, recently was elected president of the National PAL.

Ragland, who has served on the National PAL Board for 12 years, was elected at the 79th Annual National Police Athletic/Activities League Conference held in San Diego, California.

"Words can’t clearly articulate how humbled and honored I feel to serve as the steward of this 80 year old organization that positively impacts the lives of millions of youth annually throughout our country," Ragland said in a release. "I would like to thank God and the hundreds of PAL Chapters nationally who have entrusted me with this important responsibility. I would also like to thank my Henrico Police Athletic League family for affording me the opportunity to serve on a national platform."

During his two-year tenure, Ragland said, he plans to enhance the organizational infrastructure and develop a comprehensive strategic plan that will enhance PAL's ability to secure funding.

"Collectively, as the curators of future humanity, we will create a pathway of success for the millions of America’s youth we serve daily."
