The Henrico County Police Division assisted Henrico County’s “Spread the Love Initiative,” sponsored by the county’s EngAGE program for seniors, by providing 200 Valentine’s Day cards for residents of Henrico long-term care facilities.

EngAGE serves Henrico seniors, their families and caregivers, and the program is hoping to provide a Valentine’s Day car for all 8,000 or so seniors in the county’s long-term care facilities. The deadline for the public to submit cards was Friday.

“We saw an opportunity to give back to the community in a special way and wanted to participate,” said Henrico Police Lt. Matthew Pecka. Sworn officers, 911 dispatchers, and civilian employees all wrote encouraging messages in hopes to uplift someone’s day, Pecka said.
