Henrico Police have arrested a 35-year-old county man in connection with a shooting and standoff that occurred in an Eastern Henrico apartment complex July 31.

Terrance Antonio Brawner, 35, faces charges of attempted malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of the attempted malicious wounding, maliciously discharging a firearm within an occupied dwelling, and felony vandalism. Brawner is being held without bond at the Henrico County Sheriff's Office.

On Sunday just before 10:30 a.m., police responded to the 600 block of North Laburnum Avenue after receiving calls about a man outside shooting a gun in a heavily populated apartment community. Officers arrived and secured the area.

Just after 11 a.m., there were additional reports of gunfire by the man, which prompted police to fire. Police negotiated with the man, later identified as Brawner, until 1:15 p.m., when they were able to take him into custody after he exited the apartment on his own and began to run across the complex.

The officers who fired shots are on paid administrative assignments, pending an investigation by the division’s Officer-Involved Investigations Team, which routinely investigates any firearm discharge by a Police official.

"Fortunately, there were no injuries to anyone involved and only property damage sustained during the incident," said Henrico Police Lt. Matt Pecka.
