Henrico Police have arrested a 16-year-old who they say made violent – but not credible – threats against three Henrico high schools last night.

The teen is charged with making threats of bodily injury to persons or school property after making threats that Glen Allen, Godwin and Deep Run high schools could expect to see violence that exceeded that at Parkland High School in Florida last month, where a former student killed 17 people. The threats spread on social media, prompting Henrico Police, the FBI and Homeland Security officials to investigate their origin.

An extra police presence has been in place at all three schools and others in the county today, to help assuage safety concerns, according to Henrico County Schools spokesman Andy Jenks.
