Henrico PAL honors youth, leaders, supporters

The Henrico Police Athletic League hosted its 13th Annual Awards Banquet Oct. 19, celebrating PAL's recent accomplishments as well as recognizing significant contributors to the organization.

Radio personality Community Clovia Lawrence served as mistress of ceremonies for the event, which took place at the Short Pump Hilton. The keynote speaker was nationally syndicated cartoonist Robb Armstrong.

Winners of the TyVaughn Eldridge and Royce Mulholland Scholarship Award were Kendall Scott, Deandre Vaughan, and Zakiyah Watkins.  Henrico PAL Award winners included Deborah Matthew-Walker (Volunteer of the Year), Kendall Scott and Johanna Tillman (Youth of the Year), Charles Anderson (Employee of the Year), Officer Adam Marzullo (Police Officer of the Year), and Dr. Michelle McQueen-Williams (Board Member of the Year).

Among other organizations and individuals recognized for their contributions were Henrico County Recreation and Parks and Henrico County Public Schools-Nutrition Services (Summer Camp Supporter), Henrico County Public Schools-Pupil Transportation (Summer Camp Supporter), Feed More Kids Café (After School Program), Speaking Spirit Ministries (Capital Campaign Supporter), Meta (STEM-Sponsor), Richmond Strikers (Summer Camp Supporter), Tuckahoe Sports, Inc (Summer Camp Supporter), Richmond Volleyball (Summer Camp Supporter), Cultural Arts Center of Glen Allen (After-School Program), NOVA (Summer Camp Supporter), YMCA (Summer Camp Supporter), Altria (STEM Supporter) and West End Assembly of God (Thanksgiving Giveaway Supporter).

Retiring Fairfield Supervisor Frank Thornton was also honored for his service as a founding board member of Henrico PAL.
