Henrico PAL a finalist for Wawa Foundation 'Hero Awards'

The Wawa Foundation Inc. has announced the finalists for its Virginia “Hero Awards,” an honor that will be given to non-profit organizations serving Virginia that assist others and build stronger communities. The finalists in Central Virginia include the Virginia Association of Volunteer Rescue Squads, Greater Richmond ARC, Miracles In Motion and Henrico Police Athletic League.

The Wawa Foundation Virginia Hero Awards are part of Wawa’s 20-Year Virginia “Wawaversary" – marking two decades of service since the grand opening of its first store in the state of Virginia. The following grant awards will be presented: One Hero Award ($20,000 grant) and three Runner-Up Awards ($5,000 each) in each of the following markets:  Northern Virginia, Central Virginia, and the Peninsula & Hampton Roads.

The public is invited to visit thewawafoundation.org/va-hero-award to learn about the finalists and to vote for a favorite in each region by Dec. 4. The organization receiving the most votes will be presented to The Wawa Foundation Hero Award Panel for final approval, and Hero Awards will be presented at events to be held the week of Dec. 17.
