Henrico County officials and members of the Virginia Capital Trail Foundation May 30 dedicated a new restroom facility at Four Mile Creek Park in Varina that will provide a resting spot for cyclists and others who use the Virginia Capital Trail, which passes through the park just east of I-295. Community members and other trail users have sought such a facility at some point along the trail for years; the board of supervisors approved construction of the facility last March.

“Yes, you heard me right," Board of Supervisors Chairman Tyrone E. Nelson said during Thursday’s event. "We are here to celebrate a restroom!”

The facility is 900 square feet in size and also includes a water supply for those who are traveling the 51.7-mile trail, which connects Richmond with Williamsburg.

The project was a joint effort between the county’s Public Works, Public Utilities and Recreation and Parks divisions.
