Henrico County officials joined Holladay Elementary School staff members and students Dec. 13 to officially break ground on the school’s massive $25-million expansion, which will effectively double its size in time for the start of the 2021-22 school year. With the expansion, one half of the school will house kindergarten through second grade and the other half will house third through fifth grades.

Holladay will become the only school in the region to offer a dual-immersion program for students to learn in both English and Spanish. It has a high percentage of students for whom English is a second language.

The addition at Holladay was approved by Henrico voters as part of the county’s 2016 bond referendum.
