Update: Man shot by Henrico Police officer dies

UPDATE: MAR. 6, 12:38 P.M. – The man shot by a Henrico Police officer last night in the 2300 block of Strangford Court in Henrico's Far West End has died from his injuries, Henrico Police announced. Police are not releasing his name. The woman he was stabbing at the time he was shot is reportedly in critical but stable condition. The officer involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative assignment, which is standard procedure for any officer-involved incident.

A three-year-old inside at the time of the shooting was not harmed.

It was a violent scene last night in a quiet Far West End neighborhood, where shots were fired after a man attacked a woman with a knife.

Henrico and Richmond police were called to the 2300 block of Strangford Court, just off Ridgefield Parkway near the Gleneagles Shopping Center, where a man with an outstanding warrant was attacking the woman in a home.

A Henrico officer fired at the man after witnessing the attack. Both the man and woman were taken to the hospital with critical injuries, but no officers were injured. Henrico Police continue to investigate the incident.
