The Richmond Performing Arts Alliance will honor three people – including one Henrico citizen – for their contributions to arts education in the Metro Richmond region, at the "Party for the Arts: Disco Inferno" Nov. 7 at the Dominion Energy Center. The event will begin at 6 p.m.

The awards ceremony will recognize recipients of the Support Award, sponsored by Genworth; the Nurture Award, sponsored by Atlantic Union Bank; and the Thrive Award, sponsored by Kinsale. These awards celebrate teaching artists, K-12 educators, and community leaders who demonstrate a strong commitment to the positive impact of arts education.

Amaris C. Franklin, a Henrico music educator and clarinetist, will receive the Nurture Award. Franklin has dedicated 12 years to fostering a love of music in young people. Her experience includes six years teaching elementary music in Petersburg and six years teaching middle school band in Henrico. She also is an active performer with local bands and theater groups.

The "Party for the Arts: Disco Inferno" event will celebrate the achievements of all three awardees and their commitment to enriching the Richmond arts community.
