If winning once is great, three times is even better – just ask Henrico resident Allen Fleming.
Fleming won the top prize in the Virginia Lottery’s Cash 5 game – not once, but three times in the same drawing.
He matched all five winning numbers in the December 27 night drawing on three tickets. Since the game’s top prize is $100,000, his total winnings came to $300,000.
He bought his tickets at Publix, located at 3460 Pump Road in Henrico. The winning numbers were 2-11-15-18-20. He selected the numbers using family birthdays.
“It feels unbelievable,” he told Virginia Lottery officials as he claimed his prize. “I don’t think it’s sunk in yet.”
Cash 5 drawings are held daily at 1:59 p.m. and 11 p.m. The odds of winning the $100,000 top prize are 1 in 278,256.
Henrico County received more than $26 million in Lottery funds for K-12 public education in Fiscal Year 2019.
