A Henrico man is celebrating a $500,000 win from the Virginia Lottery's Bank a Million game, and the Varina store that sold him the ticket also has been rewarded with a prize.

Lorenzo Robinson won the half-million dollar prize after matching all six numbers in the Nov. 13 drawing. The winning numbers were 4, 5, 7, 10, 15, and 29, with Bonus Ball 32. Robinson's ticket matched all six of the first numbers, earning him the top prize. The odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 3.8 million.

Robinson purchased the winning ticket at Varina Market, located at 4110 Darbytown Road. For selling the lucky ticket, the store received a $10,000 bonus from the Virginia Lottery.

Virginia Lottery Executive Director Khalid Jones presented a check in that amount to the store Dec. 19.

Robinson chose to split his $2 wager two ways when he purchased the ticket, using the "Play Your Way" feature. This strategy allowed him to win $500,000 on one of his two sets of numbers.

The Bank a Million game is played exclusively in Virginia and offers drawings twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 11 p.m. The top prizes, including $1 million, $500,000, and $250,000, are calculated so that winners receive the prize amount after federal and state tax withholdings.

All profits from the Virginia Lottery, including Robinson's winnings, support K-12 education throughout the state. Last fiscal year, Henrico County received more than $37 million in funding from the Lottery, while total contributions for Fiscal Year 2024 surpassed $934 million (about 10% of Virginia's total K-12 education budget).
