Henrico man wins $250,000 in Virginia Lottery Scratcher game

Marcus Gil wasn’t expecting much when he stopped by the 7-Eleven at 8208 West Broad Street in Henrico. When the Virginia Lottery’s Double Dollar Crossword Scratcher game caught his eye, the Henrico man thought, “Let me try this.”
That turned out to be a $250,000 decision. When he took the ticket home and scratched it, he discovered he’d won the game’s top prize.
“It was surreal,” he later told Virginia Lottery officials. “I couldn’t believe it!”
Double Dollar Cross word is one of dozens of Scratchers offered by the Virginia Lottery. It features prizes ranging from $10 up to $250,000. This is the first top prize-winning ticket claimed in this game, which means two more are unclaimed.
The odds of winning that top prize are 1 in 652,800, while the odds of winning any prize in this game are 1 in 3.64.
Mr. Gil said he intends to invest his winnings.
“It doesn’t feel real yet!” he said.
