Henrico man struck and killed by vehicle in Sandston

A 66-year-old Henrico man died Friday after being struck by a vehicle in Sandston as he apparently was walking in the road.
The victim, Anthony Galvin, Jr., was struck shortly before 6:50 a.m. near the intersection of Nine Mile Road and Garland Avenue, not far from Sandston Elementary School. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses told Henrico Police that they saw Galvin walking in the roadway. The driver of the vehicle that struck him stopped and cooperated with police. No charges have been filed in the incident, and police do not believe speed, drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
